Dadakopf

So. In the time before people ridiculously started sentences with “so”, a disillusioned, guitar playing, punk, surrealist poet wanted to perform his art to the general public. His name was McDada (Peter McAdam). However he lacked the courage to perform alone and looked around for like minded souls. Alas and alack there were none in his circle of friends for McDada was different. He didn’t want the trappings of success, the ordinary, the run of the mill. He wanted the different, the unknown for he was a fractured genius.
What to do? Get drunk and see what happens.
Before he knew it, a gig was booked at Washington Arts Centre.
He would play Guitar, The Walsh brothers were in. The younger on drums and newspaper. The elder mouthing His poems.
A Dancer. Karim.
A mannequin Miranda.
Was there a bassist? No one recalls. Maybe it was Otto. Invisible Otto.
Dadakopf were born.
They were cheered. They were booed.
Miranda died, split into pieces and thrown at the audience of disillusioned metalheads “Whats it all about?” said a weary Thin Lizzy fan…”It means nothing!” was Mr Amnesiac’s reply.
Dadakopf were born from the chaos.
Then they became a band. With songs and riffs and everything. They played everywhere, anywhere. Money or not. They wanted to provoke reaction. They provoked reaction.
The singer shed his skin and became Brian Amnesiac, who under the tuition of McDada became a lyricist
Mr. Moon came in on drums because he was a great singer.
Definitely Otto Rhino on bass because he was a great guitarist.
If the mood took them Dadakopf played with 3 bassists
or
3 Drummers.
Little Annie joined as second vocalist for a while cos she was a bit sexy. So what.
Rehearsals took place once before a gig, sometimes songs were written ad lib during a set, on the fly Dadakopf played when they fancied and took time off if they fancied.
They can still make a noise.
They will make a noise.
It’s the love and hate that inspires.
It’s the apathy that kills.
A wise man once said “ Dadakopf are ahead of their time”
But he wasn’t wise. He was drunk.
Dadakopf will always be ahead of their time.
They mic’ed up an Asda trolley for God’s sake.
And their prog/punk/poppy/anachronistic anarchic noise is still going…….
Brian Amnesiac.
